Accomplished legendary waterman, Tom Blake was one of the first to construct a hollowed board in 1929. Based on the ancient Hawaiian olo designs, his chambered hollowed boards were used for surfing and paddle boarding. This basic design was later patented by Blake and further refined and used until the late 1940s.
